I have a u3 smart drive that I want to get the stuff off of. I first deleted the u3 folder in my application data folder, then zeroed out the disc with my mac. When I re-connect the disc, the stuff is put back on. Thanks for any help.

It is probably programmed to stay. If its not taking up much space leave it. You can format it, but if its designed to stay it will.

Well, when I first plugged it in it gave me the option. However, I got a serotek keys for k12 license and used it for that. Now, it won't let me remove it. I'll probably just leave it.

Well if you don't have many files you can lose, reformat it and start from scratch. After you get it reformated try that option that will reappear to remove it. If you have space put these files some place then after its formated put them back.Do reformat it go to it, but don't open it under my computer, or just computer with Win 7. Hit the alt key and look for format disc. It will ask if you are sure and tell you that you'll erase everything on it, say yes and it gets wiped clean. Then you'll know if that file is permanent or not.

OK, I succeeded in removing it. What happens, by the way, is that it hides some files on your hard drive that will recognize the drive and rewrite the stuff on your flash drive. Formatting doesn't give you the option. However, there was a removal program on the internet that I used to get rid of it.
